A felony weapons charge against 37-year-old platinum-selling rapper and hip hop recording artist Jay Wayne Jenkins, better known as Young Jeezy, was dropped on December 11, the News & Advance reported.
Orange County Superior Court Judge Robert Gannon granted the dismissal served by Deputy District Attorney Renee Jones, who said that in light of new evidence, the prosecution has decided to drop the charges against Jenkins, although declined to elaborate on the matter.
Jenkins was arrested in August on charges of possession of an AK-47 after police authorities located the weapon used in the shooting death of a man backstage at a Young Jeezy and Wiz Khalifa concert days before. Jenkins was not a suspect in the shooting.
